ABOUT WOMEN OF THE CLOUD FOREST

“Women of the Cloud Forest has been working in fair trade since 2001. We have direct, long-term relationships with small family workshops and cooperatives in Nicaragua, Nepal, Ecuador, and Peru.

In addition to placing consistent orders with our artisan partners, we provide business training and product development/design and we offer no-interest micro-loans and direct grants for workshop capacity building. This holistic approach to business enables our artisan partners to grow their businesses and access new markets without creating cycles of dependency.”

02

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

Amy and her husband, Michael, founded Women of the Cloud Forest back in 2000 while living in Monteverde, Costa Rica. They taught classes at a community art center for women, learned about the concept of fair trade, and perfected their Spanish over many cups of coffee.

They shared the Costa Rican artisans’ creations with wonderful customers at fairs, church sales, and school events over the years. Their team grew to include two good friends, Marla and Sue, who have helped Women of the Cloud Forest continue to expand, selling wholesale to over 500 stores in the US and Canada.

03

COMMUNITY IMPACT

Over the years, they have expanded their work and concentrate mostly in Nicaragua but also work directly with several cooperatives in Ecuador, Peru and Nepal.

In addition to providing countless stable jobs and income, Women of the Cloud Forest supports their artisan partners with no-interest loans for home building, donations of trees for reforestation and energy efficient eco-stoves.

So Cute and an unexpected perk

This Luminary is so perfect. Its gorgeous, unique, and the unexpected perk is, because of it's design, it really heats up the area it is in! In my tiny home, this was a welcome surprise for such a tiny tealight! It adds just the right ambiance. I love using it while I do my morning yoga!!! Highly recommend!!!
