Ikirandaryi Basket
Celebrate craftsmanship and quiet strength with the Ikirandaryi Basket, a limited-edition design created by refugee artisans in honor of World Refugee Day.
Named by Penninah N. and her cooperative, IGZ (Igisubizo), based in the Kigeme Refugee Camp, “Ikirandaryi” means “He’s Still” in Kinyarwanda—a reflection of resilience and hope. Designed through a collaborative workshop in 2023, this piece is part of the HOPE Collection, where each basket represents a meaningful expression of artistry and perseverance.
Handwoven from locally sourced sisal wrapped around bundles of sweetgrass, this 12” wide by 3” high basket is hand-dyed in soft, natural tones of tan, brown, black, and white. Its calming geometric pattern brings a grounded, minimalist feel to any space.
A built-in loop on the back allows for easy hanging, making it ideal as a woven wall basket, fruit basket, or subtle accent piece for shelves, tables, or entryways.

Each item is handcrafted using time-honored, heritage techniques, making each and every piece unique with slight variations.
Skilled artisans use a range of natural, raw materials sourced in Rwanda and Ghana including sweetgrass, banana leaf, bolga straw, raffia, organic yarn, palm leaf, and more.
Handwoven baskets should be kept dry. To clean, dust with a lint-free cloth.
