Details
These durable, lightweight & porous plant pots are made with agricultural byproducts & Kanso's patented mix of recycled materials.
The finished product is combined with materials like natural stone and wood to completely change the nature of plastic into a green composite material. As each planter is the result of handcrafted finishes, each item contains its own personality and unique details.
Care
- Planters made from upcycled materials are best preserved by keeping them indoors.
- Clean planters with mild dishwasher soap and water to preserve their aesthetic attributes. Please refrain from using abrasive cleaning products as they may scratch the surface.
- These planters are crafted to be more porous than regular plastics, cement, and some ceramics, so you may notice some moisture accumulation underneath. This is a natural feature of the product design and not a flaw.
- All products are lightweight and gentle on all surfaces. They can be placed confidently on wood or glass without causing scratches. When positioned on a wooden surface, ensure a saucer is placed underneath the planter to collect any excess moisture.
- Planters include drainage plugs to maintain the ideal moisture level. To make sure no water leaks underneath, first drain over the sink and then place the drainage plug back in.

"Kanso (簡素) refers to the simplicity or elimination of clutter. It is an expression in a plain, simple, and natural manner. It is a mindset that has been adopted and cultivated from our time living in Japan.
Spending over five years in Japan, we noticed this philosophy lead back to being purposeful and intentional with our actions. The more mindful we were about the things we bought, the relationships we formed, the more meaningful experiences became.
Three years in the making — The Kanso Collection is rooted in history and purpose. Whether it’s the idea of turning waste into resource or simple visual elegance, Kanso Designs strives to cultivate more meaningful spaces for our customers and our community."
"Asia leads the world in the production of plastic waste as well as the mismanagement of plastic waste material. East Asia and Pacific regions account for over 60% of the mismanagement of plastic waste material.
We have decided to go to the root of the problem and source our recycled plastics from Asia and use it as a material in our products.
Asia has built a sufficient waste management infrastructure to handle recycled wastes and turn them into resources for our pots."
"Each piece has been designed to encourage others to not only think in terms of decoration but in terms of purpose and intent.
This idea extends to how we repurpose agricultural byproducts and recycled plastics to manufacture our pots. Using byproducts such as coffee bean husk, bamboo fibre, wheat husk and recycled plastics, we are able to transform useless and unwanted materials into products with a functional purpose.
We mix these with resin that is free of toxic chemicals such as phenol and formaldehyde to create our durable pots. With this process we are able to extract raw materials from production streams and reduce the need for new resources.
By finding sustainable methods to reuse waste materials we can also contribute to creating a more circular economy. In doing so, create new jobs and opportunities while remedying the environmental devastation caused by these harmful materials."
